Designer Shades, specializing in custom spray tanning and cosmetic teeth whitening, is now open at DC Ranch Crossing.
Chris Smith, owner of Designer Shades shares the highlights behind her new spray-tanning business:
Q: What inspired you to locate your business in DC Ranch Crossing?
A: My husband and I have fallen in love with the area. We are looking at schools, and plan to move to DC Ranch in the near future. We’ve had a location at 101 and 51st Avenue since 2009, and already have many customers from Scottsdale.
Q: Why pay for a spray tan, when we live in a state of nearly perpetual sunshine?

Q: What should I expect, when I come in for my first visit?
A: First, we determine the right skin shade for you, whether you’re going for a sun-kissed look or a deeper “Dancing with the Stars” all-over tan. You will enter a private room where you can wear your bathing suit or take it all off, whatever feels most comfortable to you. Our technician will apply an anti-aging Ph-balanced tan extender free of charge, then expertly apply color by hand with an airbrush gun, blending in each area. You’ll emerge with a flawless glow 15 to 20 minutes later!
Q: How long will my Designer Shades tan last?
A: Designer Shades uses South Seas color products which are only available in spas. If you follow our directions, your tan should last between 7 and 10 days.
Q: To compliment a glowing tan, I hear you also offer teeth whitening?
A: Absolutely! We use the same technology and products as dental offices, which can provide great results when applied once a year. First, we brush on Da Vinci’s all natural, gel, then activate it with a cool blue LED light, while you recline in a comfortable massage chair for up to 60 minutes. No uncomfortable mouth trays or gauze needed!
Q: What’s your favorite aspect of your business?
A: Designer Shades has clients from all walks of life. Many are local TV personalities. We even see ‘Twin Peaks’ girls on a regular basis. But the best part is seeing our clients leave excited and happy, wearing a natural, healthy glow!
