Fitwall Debuts its First Arizona Location in DC Ranch Crossing
If your personal workout routine has hit a wall, it might be time to try Fitwall. This sleek new gym in DC Ranch Crossing is the company’s first high-tech, high-touch experience in Arizona.
Named ‘one of the world’s top 10 most innovative companies in fitness’ by Fast Company magazine, the initial inspiration behind Fitwall came from an engineer with a passion for rock climbing. He built a prototype that transformed a traditional rock climbing wall into a seven-foot-tall wall system, with rungs, a step, and resistance bands. Combined with a roster of founders who read like a “Who’s Who” in sports and technology, Fitwall is poised to be a serious competitor in the fitness space.
Checking in for my first Fitwall experience, I was greeted by North Scottsdale resident Tena Doss, one of four owners with expansion plans for Arizona, Nevada, Washington and Oregon. Her husband Matanda Doss is the founder of Sparrow, an international e-commerce solution. Their partners in this venture are six-time major league baseball All-Star Paul Konerko and his wife, Jennifer.
“Jennifer and I first attended a Fitwall class in San Diego and immediately felt the differences. It’s an exceptional workout, unlike any other on the market,” Tena said. “What makes this workout so effective is that your lower and upper body remains engaged, as your arms and legs support your weight while perched on the wall.”
After checking in via iPad, I received a Bluetooth heart monitor that synched my heart rate to a plasma screen on my very own Fitwall apparatus. Each session is intentionally limited to 16 participants with two coaches. While Ryan demonstrated each move (and in my case, modifications needed) a large screen on the back wall displayed videos of a class replicating each exercise and tracking the time. Fitwall’s challenging routines and heart-pounding playlist had my blood pumping in no time! After conquering a strength class, Tena recommended returning for a flexibility and a cardio class, to round out my fitness routine for the week.
Best of all? Each class only takes 40 minutes. For a limited time, you can test drive Fitwall for one week for just $19.95. Memberships are $149-$169 a month, with unlimited classes. Personalized training is also available in their Focus Room.
“We looked all over the Valley, and are thrilled to open our first studio in DC Ranch Crossing, We love the convenience of AJ’s Fine Foods, nearby boutiques, services and access to the 101,” Tena said. “We invite everyone to stop by, and discover how to train smarter and experience dramatic changes within weeks.”
